The applicant proposes to
reconstruct the Maple Ridge Road, an abandoned Town Road,
for the purpose of timber management access and for improved public access to newly
acquired easement land. Improvements will require the installation of a 57" x 38" x
32'
long culvert to eliminate a present stream ford. Approximately 5' of fill will be required
over a distance of 60', to bring the road up to grade. The site is adjacent to regulated
freshwater wetland P-29, a 59 acre Class II wetland. The site is located approximately 5
miles west of Martinsburg.

The applicant proposes to
replace a deteriorated dam/roadway across Tributary 1 of
O'Malley Brook, approximately 0.30 miles east of the Village of Colton. The dam would
be constructed of compacted gravel with spillway and would be approximately 5' high
and 80' wide. Average pond depth would be 2' with pockets up to 4'. The pond site is
spring fed and would reestablish trout habitat. The roadway would reestablish access to
isolated timber lands.
