The
Village of Chester has applied for a Water Supply permit (WSA#10,580) to
increase the taking of water for use in the Village’s water supply & distribution system by
increasing the water taking at the Black Meadow Well #12 from the current 400 gallons
per minute (gpm) to 450 gpm and at the Black Meadow Well #12-A from the current 200
gpm to 350 gpm. The combined total maximum daily water taking from this wellfield
would be increased from the current limit of 0.8 Million Gallons per Day (MGD) to 1.1
MGD. The Black Meadow Wellfield is located on Black Meadow Road, southwest of the
Village of Chester, in the Town of Chester, Orange County , NY.

tentative determination to re-issue/re-new this permit for a five year term maintaining
current effluent limitations and monitoring and reporting requirements. This permit
involves the surface discharge of up to 1,600 gallons per day of treated sanitary waste to a
tributary of Monhagen Brook.
