The applicant proposes to
remove Phragmites from a 36,500 sq. ft. area of a freshwater
wetland along with 3,376 cubic yards of material to create a detention pond.
Consequently, the stormwater runoff from the watershed immediately west of the new
wetland pond will be retained and the sediments and other pollutants allowed to settle out
prior to entering Lake Montauk. The project is located on West Lake Drive just west of
the Ditch Plains Parking Lot, SCTM # 0300-12-3-7.11, in Montauk, Town of East
Hampton, Suffolk County.
