Suffolk County - The Town Board of the Town of East Hampton, as lead agency, has accepted a Generic Environmental Impact Statement on the proposed Town Comprehensive Plan of 2004. The Town Board of the Town of East Hampton has determined that there is a great degree of public interest in the proposed action and that an additional public comment period can aid the Town Board of the Town of East Hampton decision-making processes. Therefore, the Town Board of the Town of East Hampton hereby establishes an additional public comment period on the draft GEIS. The comment period shall begin with the first filing and circulation of this notice of completion. Any person wishing to comment on the draft GEIS may submit written comments on the same. Said written comments shall be delivered to the Town Clerk of the Town of East Hampton, 159 Pantigo Road, East Hampton, New York, 11937. Said written comments must be received by 4:00 p.m. on January 21, 2005. Copies of the draft GEIS are on file at the Office of the East Hampton Town Clerk, 159 Pantigo Road, East Hampton, New York. Copies of the document may be obtained and are available for public review at said office from Monday-Friday between the hours of 9 a.m. and 4 p.m.
The Comprehensive Plan includes an overview of existing conditions, an analysis of potential residential build-out, and three areas of intensive study, all of which provide the background needed to formulate the Plan recommendations. A set of eleven (11) articulated goals are the basis for the recommendations in the Comprehensive Plan. The three (3) areas of intensive study included in the Comprehensive Plan are (1) affordable housing, (2) water resources, and (3) urban renewal areas. Each of these subsections of the Comprehensive Plan contains narratives describing existing conditions, analysis, and recommendations to achieve the Town’s articulated goals. In addition to the recommendations in the three (3) areas of intensive study, the Comprehensive Plan contains recommendations for each hamlet in the Town, and an overall plan for the Town. The Comprehensive Plan includes a proposed zoning or use district map reflecting the detailed study and analysis in the plan.
