ENB Region 8 Completed Applications 12/01/2004

The permittee has made application to modify the current mining permit for the Peterson Sand and Gravel mine in the town of Chemung.  The modification would authorize the use of a rented, portable rock crusher within the approved life-of-mine perimeter.  The crusher would operate at a processing rate of 100 - 125 tons per hour, approximately 8 hours a day for a two week period during each operating season.  No other changes to the Mined-land Use Plan are proposed by this modification.   The mine site is east of the hamlet of Chemung on the south side of Old NYS Rt. 17, approximately 3,700 ft. west of the Dry Brook Rd. intersection.

The Department is prepared to issue a 401 Water Quality Certification for the construction of a light industrial facility at the applicant's property located at 63 Pixley Industrial Extension in the Town of Gates, Monroe County.  The project will result in the filling of 0.49 acres of federal wetlands and the deepening of 0.17 acres of apparent isolated intra-state wetlands.  The project will include the creation of 0.54 acres of new wetland and 0.12 acres of stormwater emergent wetland to be located on the same site as mitigation.
