The mine will annually operate from around April 1 to December 1, depending upon weather conditions. Normal hours for excavation are proposed to be 6:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Monday through Friday and 6:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Saturdays. Mining shall not commence before 7:00 a.m. The project is located between the West Branch Owego Creek and the Lehigh Valley Railroad tracks on the west side of NYS Route 38 just south of its intersection with West Creek Road.

Project is a Type I action and will not have a significant effect on the environment. A coordinated review with other agencies was performed and a Negative Declaration is on file.

Based on information provided in the survey report, the New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation (OPRHP) has determined that the proposed activity will have no impact on registered or eligible archaeological sites or historic structures. No further review in accordance with SHPA is required.
