Project is Located: Charlotte, Chautauqua County
Project Description:
The applicant proposes to mine topsoil, subsoil, sand and gravel, with material processing by a portable dry-screen, portable crusher and portable wash plant, each having a maximum processing capacity under 150 tons per hour.  The proposed mine would affect 30.4 acres out of 257 acres owned by the applicant at this location.  The estimated life of the mine is 20 years and the reclamation objective is a 21.1 acre pond up to 45 feet deep with the remainder reclaimed to meadow suitable for potential recreational or residential development.  The planned haul road is a former farm lane accessing Cassadaga Road.  It is proposed to relocate the haul road during the fourth five-year permit term, along the the west mine boundary.  The relocated haul road will remain afer reclamation for access to the reclaimed processing plant site.  About 31.5 linear feet of a perimeter berm, at the northeast side of the mine, would be along the edge of the regulated 100-foot wide Adjacent Area of Freshwater Wetland No. CS-4.
