The applicant proposes to
add 0.89 acres by eliminating the set-back between this mine
and the adjacent Cattaraugus County Department of Public Works "Machias Deposit
Mine" (that agency has provided written consent), and to add a wash plant with a
maximum capacity of 120 tons per hour. The proposed wash plant would have a closed
cycle (recycling) process water system and a water supply well capable of producing up to
20 gallons per minute. No other changes are proposed. The mine is located on the
northwest side of NYS Route 16 with a common entrance with the county's mine, 300
feet southwest from the intersection of Broadbay Circle with Rte 16.

The applicant proposes to
mine topsoil, subsoil, sand and gravel, with material processing
by a portable dry-screen, portable crusher and portable wash plant, each having a
maximum processing capacity under 150 tons per hour. The proposed mine would affect
30.4 acres out of 257 acres owned by the applicant at this location. The estimated life of
the mine is 20 years and the reclamation objective is a 21.1 acre pond up to 45 feet deep
with the remainder reclaimed to meadow suitable for potential recreational or residential
development. The planned haul road is a former farm lane accessing Cassadaga Road. It
is proposed to relocate the haul road during the fourth five-year permit term, along the the
west mine boundary. The relocated haul road will remain afer reclamation for access to
the reclaimed processing plant site. About 31.5 linear feet of a perimeter berm, at the
northeast side of the mine, would be along the edge of the regulated 100-foot wide
Adjacent Area of Freshwater Wetland No. CS-4.
