ENB Region 6 Completed Applications 10/20/2004

The applicant proposes to replace and expand the entire wastewater treatment system for the hamlet of Wanakena.  Work would include replacement of the old pumpstation, controls, pumps, forcemain, river crossing, septic tanks, equilization tank, and buried sandfilter.  New works would include a new control/storage building, an on-site backup generator and an ultra violet disinfection system to replace chlorine disinfection.

This Department has received a request to issue a permit and has drafted an Article 19

(Air Pollution Control) of the Environmental Conservation Law, an Air State Facility Permit, at the

facility located at Losurdo Foods Inc. 34 and 54 Union St. Heuvelton NY 13654.

The Department has made a tentative determination to approve the application of the Losurdo Foods Inc. facility, a cheese  production and whey drying operation.  The State Facility Permit allows the operation of Emission units 100000, 200000, and 300000 which includes boilers, whey driers, and a proposed waste water treatment plant utilizing a flare and exempt and trivial sources. The facility has capped out of Title V by limiting emissions of sulfur dioxide. Permitting requirements by tracking and restricting its facility usage of 0.5% sulfur fuel oil below 2.71 million gallons per year.  The draft permit with conditions is available for review in the Region 6 NYS DEC office in Watertown, New York.
