Article 23 Title 27 Mined Land Reclamation |
| Project is Located: | Darien, Genesee County |
| Project Description: | |
|
The applicant proposes a modification to
an existing sand and gravel mine. The
modification would add 3 acres of sand and gravel reserves to the current 7 acre life-of-mine (LOM)
area. The mine will continue to operate as a traditional surface excavation
of the Palmyra and Arkport gravelly loam series, which are the predominate soil types
on the site. Excavation will be by front end loader, equipment standard for sand and
gravel mining operations. There will be no processing of excavated material and no
washing, or other uses of ground or surface waters are proposed for this operation.
Final reclamation will restore the site to graded, stabilized and re-vegetated open land
suitable for agricultural use. The mine site is located on the east side of Griswald Road,
approximately 1,500 north of the Chick Road intersection.
