Negative Declaration

Tompkins County - The Town of Ithaca Town Board, as lead agency, has determined that the proposed Local Law Rezoning a Cornell University Parcel at 391 Pine Tree Road (Tax Parcel No. 63-1-3.4) will not have a significant adverse environmental impact. The action involves the adoption of a local law to amend the Town of Ithaca Zoning Ordinance and Map to rezone the Cornell University Parcel at 391 Pine Tree Road (Tax Parcel No. 63-1-3.4) consisting of 25.8 +/- acres from Office Park Commercial and Multiple Residence to Low Density Residential. No new development is proposed at this time. The project is located at 391 Pine Tree Road, Town of Ithaca, Tompkins County, NY.

Project Description: The action involves an herbicide application to reduce ferns and undesirable low valued tree species (striped maple and beech) to allow the natural regeneration of desired species such as sugar maple, black cherry, white ash and red maple. The action is to take place on 12 acres, presently occupied by stands of sugar maple, black cherry and red maple. Impact on public health is minimal. Personnel will be equipped with safety equipment. Also, following label instructions for the application will minimize risk.
