Negative Declaration

Suffolk County - The Asharoken Board of Trustees, as lead agency, has determined that the proposed Comprehensive Master Plan 2004 for the Incorporated Village of Asharoken, NY will not have a significant adverse environmental impact. The action involves a Comprehensive Master Plan of 2004 which updates and replaces the previous Master Plan written in 1985. The Plan offers positive recommendations for the Village's concerns and issues. Chief among these are the erosion of our Long Island Sound Beach and the development of a large estate that makes up 51 percent of the total area of the Village. Other topics for which planning recommendations are made include: adoption of cluster provisions to maximize open space, compliance with DEC Stormwater regulations, dune stabilization and maintenance, wetland protection, coastal erosion control, bluff protection, steep slope limitations, large tree preservation, and topsoil retention. The Plan also includes an environmental inventory.

Notice Of Acceptance Of Draft EIS And Public Hearing

Suffolk County - The Town Board of the Town of Islip, as lead agency, has accepted a Draft Environmental Impact Statement on the proposed Central Islip PDD: Master Plan Update, Zoning Amendments and Development Proposals. A public hearing on the Draft EIS will be held on Septembert 23, 2004 at 7:30 p.m., in the Town of Islip Town Hall, 644 Main Street, Islip, NY. The action involves a comprehensive plan for the redevelopment of an approximately 800-acre former Central Islip Psychiatric Center located in the Hamlet of Central Islip, within the Town of Islip. The Master Plan Update will reflect: redevelopment and new construction that has occurred with the PDD since the adoption of the Master Plan; previous Master Plan amendments; and, the Town's current planning policies and goals for the PDD. The proposed action includes not only the Master Plan Update for the entire 800-acre PDD, but also several site-specific development proposals and/or zone change proposals for various parcels within the PDD. The PDD is generally bounded by Suffolk Avenue to the north, Lowell Avenue to the east, the Southern State Parkway to the south and Wilson Blvd to the west in Central Islip, within the Town of Islip.
