New York Environmental Leaders - Input from Interested Stakeholders Requested

The Department is seeking input on the development of a new environmental leadership program, which will be called New York Environmental Leaders. New York Environmental Leaders will be a voluntary program focused on encouraging Environmental Management Systems, beyond compliance performance, pollution prevention, and sustainable business practices. The Department will encourage participation by providing recognition and incentives to those organizations that are able to demonstrate that they meet the requirements for entering New York Environmental Leaders. The framework for New York Environmental Leaders is established in a recently issued Commissionerís Policy on Environmental Management Systems (CP-34 www.dec.state.ny.us/website/ppu/ems/cpems.html). However, many details still need to be established. In order to gather input on the details of this program, the Department is asking interested stakeholders to complete a survey. The survey can be found at: www.dec.state.ny.us/website/ppu/nyel/shsurvey.pdf .Please take the time to complete the survey and return it, as directed, by September 17, 2004.
