| Project Description: | |
|
Proposed improvements to
the Raquette Lake Water District # 1 (also known as Town of
Long Lake Water District # 1), serving the settlement of Raquette Lake. The project
includes installation of two groundwater wells (taking up to 20,000 gallons per day), 1250
feet of transmission pipe, and a new control/treatment building. The new wells will
enable the District to abandon an existing, unfiltered surface water source (reservoir) that
does not comply with current safe drinking water standards. Also, proposed removal of
an existing chlorination building adjacent to Sagamore Road, and replacement of
approximately 2500 feet of undersized distribution lines in the settlement of Raquette
Lake. The project will not increase the size of the District, and no new residences will be
served. Most of the improvements will occupy state Forest Preserve land (Moose River
Plains Wild Forest). As a result, the project also includes a proposal to reclassify 0.94
acre of land from Wild Forest to State Administrative. The project is located in the
settlement of Raquette Lake and along Sagamore Road.
