Niagara County - The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation, as lead agency, has determined that the proposed Modern Landfill, Inc.ís requested increase in the Ratio of Alternative Daily Cover (ADC) to Solid Waste disposed from 25 % to 30% may have a significant adverse impact on the environment and a Draft Environmental Impact Statement must be prepared. The proposed action would increase the ratio of alternative daily cover accepted at the landfill to solid waste disposed of at the landfill from 25 percent to 30 percent. The maximum annual tonnage of materials defined as solid waste accepted would not increase from the existing permitted rate of 815,000 tons per year. The life of the landfill would be reduced by an indeterminate period of time. The project is located at the existing landfill operated by Modern Landfill, Inc. near the intersection of Pletcher and Castle Garden Roads in the Town of Lewiston, Niagara County on a 380 acre land parcel owned by Modern Landfill, Inc.
