The applicant proposes to
construct an in-stream sediment basin of approximately 130
feet long by 40 feet wide for the purposes of intercepting and accumulating the Alden
Brook sediment load before it enters Lake George. Every 3 years, or as is otherwise
necessary, the basin will be evacuated of captured sediment by means of an excavator
which will access the area at a single point on the north side. Application materials are
available for public review and comment at the NYS DEC Regional Sub-Office in
Warrensburg.

The applicant proposes to add 17 acres to the Life of Mine (LOM) of the currently permitted 23-acre sand and gravel pit. Materials will be excavated with a wheel loader or equivalent, and processed on site by use of a portable screener/crusher. Mining will occur in eight phases, and the mine reclamation will occur in succession with the completion of the phases. The LOM will maintain a 100 foot vegetated buffer from H-409-8, an unnamed tributary to Mill Creek (Class Ct). Application materials are available for public comment at the NYS DEC Regional Sub-Office in Warrensburg. This application is also under the jurisdiction of the Adirondack Park Agency, Project #2003-83. |
