Positive Declaration And Public Scoping

Rensselaer County - The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (NYSDEC), as lead agency, has determined that the proposed Troy Sand and Gravel Inc. Nassau Quarry (DEC #4-3820-00099/00001 - Town of Nassau, Rensselaer County), may have a significant adverse impact on the environment and a Draft environmental Impact Statement must be prepared. Written comments may be submitted on the draft scoping outline and will be accepted by the Department until COB on September 3, 2004. Copies of the Draft Scoping Outline and the modified mining maps are available for review at:

The proposed mining operation would extract minerals from an 88 acre life of mine area, within a 214 acre parcel. The project includes blasting operations and on-site processing (via portable crusher), and would be operated in several phases.
