ENB Region 2 Completed Applications 06/30/2004

The Department has made a tentative decision to approve an application to surrender the permits for emission unit 1-ENGIN and to approve emission reduction credits (ERCs) for the past reductions which were the result of shutdown and removal of seven 2816 horsepower reciprocating internal combustion engines at the Newtown Creek WPCP facility. The applicant has requested 176 tons of volatile organic compounds (VOC) and 462 tons of oxides of nitrogen (NOx). The Department has approved 176 tons of VOC and 462 tons of NOx reduction of which it will keep 25% (44 tons of VOC and 115.5 tons of NOx from facilities in severe non-attainment areas) in accordance with 6 NYCRR Part 231, "New Source Review in Nonattainment Areas.)
