Livingston County - The Town of Caledonia Planning Board, as lead agency, has accepted a Final Environmental Impact Statement on the proposed Empire Transload Corporation Liquid Fertilizer and Diesel Facilities. The action involves the construction and operation of the Empire Transload Liquid Fertilizer and Diesel Fuel facilities. The liquid fertilizer facility will receive bulk quantities of fertilizer and fertilizer raw materials by rail car and truck that are then blended to meet customer specifications and loaded onto trucks for delivery to agricultural producers in the region. The diesel fuel facility will receive bulk quantities of fuel oil by rail car, which is used to fuel railroad locomotives at the site, loaded onto tank trucks for delivery, or sold as fuel for trucks. The two new facilities will complement the recently completed dry feed and fertilizer distribution facility at the same location. The facilities are planned to be located on the north side of New York State Route 5 and adjacent to Commodity Resource Corporations dry feed and fertilizer facility and the Rochester and Southern rail yard, just west of the Village of Caledonia. The new liquid fertilizer and diesel facilities are to be located on two new lots, totaling approximately 12.2 acres, to be subdivided from Commodity Resource Corporations larger parcel containing the dry feed and fertilizer operation.
