The Department has received
an application from the Village of Wellsburg to take a
supply of water estimated to average 75,000 gallons per day from the Elmira Water Board
sources. This project includes the installation of 16,636 linear feet of 10 inch water main
and 3,978 linear feet of 8 inch water main and appurtenances to serve the 175 residential
structures, 20 commercial structures, one industrial grinding shop and one mobile home
park (114 trailers). The water system serves 3 residences in the Town of Ashland and 7
units in Pennsylvania, currently served by Well #6. The Department has made a tentative
determination to approve this application and is seeking public comment prior to making
a final decision on permit issuance.

The applicant proposes to
construct the second phase of the Erie Station Village
Apartment project on their property located on the north side of Erie Station Rd. in Town
of Henrietta, Monroe County. The project involves the relocation of 950 lineal feet of
intermittant stream with a new channel that will be required to contain the 100 year storm
flood flow. In addition, 850 lineal feet of riparian stream corridor will be restored with an
expanded wetland fringe, 0.5 acre of new wetland will be created, and an additional 400
feet of the stream will be enhanced with plantings. The Department is prepared to issue a
401 Water Quality Certification for the project.

The applicant proposes a modification of
the Savona Pit sand and gravel mine. The modification
will add approximately 8.1 acres of new gravel reserves to the existing 5.8 acre life-of-mine area.
Mining in the expansion area will continue the current operations as a traditional surface
extraction of the gravelly silt loams which are the principal soils types on the site. Processing
will
be by portable crushing and screening equipment. No changes to the rate of mining, truck traffic
volumes or hours of operation are proposed. Reclamation will restore the site to graded, re-vegetated
open land. The project site is on the Curtis Hopkins property, east of State Rt. 415
approximately 700 ft. north of the Mill Road intersection.
