ENB Region 4 Completed Applications 06/16/2004

The applicant proposes to conduct four experimental management treatments to determine an effective treatment method for management of the invasive species, Japanese knotweed.  The project will be conducted along sections of the northern streambank of the Batavia Kill at two separate properties.  The treatments consist of a series of plots of knotweed at the top of the streambank of the Batavia Kill, which will be subject to the following different management treatments: frequent mowing; limited excavation and planting native species, limited excavation with planting of native species with weed barrier; and herbicide injection. The results of this study will be developed into a brochure for landowners for effective management treatments for knotweed.  The project is located at the Batavia Kill, south of State Route 23 and east and west of County Route 17.

The applicant proposes to apply Aquathol-K to 15 acres of a 110 acre waterbody (Snyder's Lake) for the control of Eurasian Watermilfoil.  Application is proposed for the southwestern corner of the lake, along Geiser Road, across the lake from the town beach at Snyder's Lake, Town of North Greenbush, Rensselaer County.
