Project Title: William & Donna Spellman
Location: between Chazy Lake Road and Chazy Lake in the Town of Dannemora
Comment Period Ends: June 17, 2004
Project Description: The action involves construction of a four-foot side elevated boardwalk and dock across a wetland to gain access to Chazy Lake.
The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC), as lead agency, has determined that the proposed water supply improvements for Town of Long Lake Water District # 1 (Raquette Lake) may have a significant effect on the environment, and a Draft Environmental Impact Statement (DEIS) will be prepared.
Proposed project: Installation of two new wells, a control/treatment building, and 1250 feet of transmission pipe. The new groundwater source will enable Long Lake Water District #1 to abandon an existing, unfiltered surface water source (reservoir) that does not comply with current safe drinking water standards administered by the New York State Department of Health. Also, replacement of 2500 feet of undersized water lines in the Hamlet of Raquette Lake. Most of the improvements will occupy state Forest Preserve land (Moose River Plains Wild Forest). As a result, the project also includes a proposal to reclassify 0.94 acre of land from Wild Forest to State Administrative.
Project location: Sagamore Road, and settlement of Raquette Lake
