Consolidated SPDES Renewals
Warren County - The Planning Board of the Town of Queensbury, as lead agency, has accepted a Final Supplemental Generic EIS on the proposed Expansion of Great Escape Theme Park. The action involves the proposed expansion of the existing Great Escape Theme Park through the construction of additional parking, vehicle circulation and pedestrian access facilities including parking lots, a "ring road", dedicated access lanes, pedestrian bridge and new visitor entrance plaza; construction of a 180-200 room hotel with appurtenant parking, vehicle circulation and pedestrian access facilities; and possible construction of a convention center/trade show facility with appurtenant parking, vehicle circulation and pedestrian access facilities. The purpose of the action is to provide facilities and capacity to allow for planned growth in patronage at the Park, anticipated to increase from 900,000 to 1,500,000 visitors, a 70% increase. It is anticipated that rides and attractions in the Park will change and/or be constructed to attract such additional visitors. The integrated, interconnected system of new parking lots, a ring road, dedicated access lanes, pedestrian bridge and new visitor entrance plaza will provide for a significant increase in on-site parking capacity and will also be designed to mitigate traffic congestion and peak hour delays on State Route 9 by providing increased on-site vehicle "stacking" capacity, as well as for the increased convenience and safety of the Park's patrons.
