ENB Region 2 Completed Applications 05/19/2004

Applicant proposes to operate 2 separate temporary dewatering systems for the for the construction of a temporary bypass pump station and replacement of the raw sewage force main and the installation of permanent fuel oil storage tanks with a maximum withdrawal of discharge of 2,160,000 gallons per day.  Construction will take place in the confines of the 26^th Ward WPCP located at 12266 Flatlands Avenue in Brooklyn, NY.  The pumped groundwater discharge is to be directed into the lower level junction box of the 26^th Ward WPCP.

The Department has made a tentative determination to approve this application for a new permit for a proposed discharge of up to 0.864 million gallons per day (total) of treated groundwater into Mott Basin (Class I) and Norton Basin (Class I) from settling treatment plants at the applicant’s construction site located in the area of Redfern Avenue and Rockaway Boulevard in Queens where the applicant is replacing and constructing a 36" water main and appurtenances, sewer replacement, street reconstruction, and related work.  A draft permit is available for inspection and comment at the regional office.
