Location: Beach Street, west shoreline of Lake Champlain

Project Description: The installation of benthic barrier material on approximately 22,500 square feet of lake bottom at the Village of Port Henry municipal beach in order to control nuisance aquatic vegetation and maintain the existing municipal swimming area. Water depth in the work area is 5 to 8 feet deep. The Village shoreline property is 13.2 acres in size and has approximately 1,580 feet of shoreline. The public swimming area to be treated involves approximately 150 ft. of shoreline. The treatment will be undertaken in 150 ft. by 200 ft. sections and the benthic mats will be moved approximately every 30 to 35 days from May through September. The installation of the benthic mats as described will continue annually from May through September for up to five years, as determined necessary by the Village and their consultants. The project is also being reviewed by New York State Department of Environmental Conservation and the US Army Corps of Engineers.


Negative Declaration

Warren County - The Queensbury Planning Board, as lead agency, has determined that the proposed Wal Mart Site Plan will not have a significant adverse environmental impact. The action involves demolition of 70 727 sq. ft. of retail space, and a 3 000 sq. ft. diner. A 95 217 sq. ft. addition will then be added to an existing Wal Mart for a total of 216 080 sq. ft. The project is located on Route 9, Queensbury, NY.

Notice Of Acceptance Of Final Generic EIS

Warren, Washington And Essex Counties - The Lake George Park Commission, as lead agency, has accepted a Final Generic Environmental Impact Statement on the Lake George Deltas Sediment Management/Shoreline Restoration Project. The action involves remediation of tributary brook deltas that have formed along the shoreline in Lake George due to excessive sedimentation caused by upland development, highway sand spreading, land clearing and logging and other human causes.
