ENB Region 7 Completed Applications 03/24/2004

The Department has received a notice of closure from SCI Management L.P. to permanently close the Marsellus Casket Company facility located at 6666 Kinne Street, East Syracuse, NY.

SCI Management L.P. has surrendered the existing Title V air permit to operate the emission sources located at this facility.   Additionally, SCI Management L.P. is proposing the establishment of certified Volatile Organic Compound (VOC) emission reduction credits (ERCs) for the emission reductions resulting from the permanent shutdown of the facility.

SCI Management L.P. is proposing to establish 75.0 tons of certified ERC's in accordance with 6 NYCRR Part 231 "New Source Review In Nonattainment Areas And Ozone Transport Regions". The application and supporting documentation are available for review at the NYSDEC Region 7 office at 615 Erie Boulevard West, Syracuse, NY 132042400.  Comments will be received for a period of 30 days from the date of this notice.

NYSDEC REgion 7 has received a complete application for a new 82 acre sand and gravel mine, of which 4.9 acres would be impacted during the first 5 year permit term. The site is on a 2,700 acre parcel of land owned by Patricia Webb and located southeast of the intersection of Mellon and Finnerty Roads in the Town of Amboy.  The mining application is available for review in the Syracuse Office.   

The Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) has received an application to re-issue the following EPA minor Private/Commercial/Institutional State Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (P/C/I SPDES)permit. DEC has made a tentative determination to re-issue this permit for a five-year period, maintaining the current effluent limitations and monitoring and reporting requirements.  This permit involves the surface discharge of 1,600 gallons per day of treated sanitary waste to Cayuga Lake.

    Additional information including the current permit, renewal applications, and supporting documentation may be obtained from or inspected at the NYSDEC central office in Albany.  Substantive comments on the permit or requests for hearing or both must be submitted in writing to the contact person.
