ENB Region 4 Completed Applications 02/18/2004

The applicant proposes to operate a 4.95 acre life of mine surface consolidated sandstone mine of which the entire 4.95 acres will be authorized to be disturbed during the initial permit term.  The operation will include blasting and the mechanical cutting of stone. The site is located at the end of Skytop Lane, 0.5 miles from the intersection of Skytop Lane and Route 35.

    The Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) has received an application to re-issue the following EPA minor Private/Commercial/Institutional State Pollution Discharge Elimination System (P/C/I SPDES) permit.  DEC has made a tentative determination to re-issue this permit for a five-year period, maintaining the current effluent limitations and monitoring and reporting requirements.  This permit involves the surface discharge of up to 4,500 gallon per day of treated sanitary waste to the Vly Creek.

    Additional information including the current permit, renewal applications, and supporting documentation may be obtained from, or inspected at the NYSDEC central office in Albany.  Substantive comments on the permit or requests for a hearing or both must be submitted in writing to the contact person.

The applicant proposes to replace the County Route 19 Bridge over Wharton Creek in the Town of Burlington. Construction activities will include demolition of the current structure and replacement on a improved alignment. The use of a temporary causeway and rip rap stream bank protection are also planned. CR19 will be closed during the construction period. Wharton Creek is a protected stream under Article 15 of  New Yorks Environmental Conservation Law(ECL). The work is also located in the 100 foot adjacent area of  wetland # S-13 which is protected under Article 24 of the ECL.
