The applicant proposes to
remove approximately 5,700 cubic yards of sediment and
debris that was deposited in Cuba Lake during July and August 2003 storm events. The
areas to be dredged total approximately 79,625 square feet. Additionally, existing
damaged riprap bank stabilization will be repaired along Tributary 1 of Cuba Lake. The
dredging areas are located at the mouths of Cuba Lake tributaries Nos. 1 through 4
(Munger Hollow, Abbotts, New Mexico and Mount Monroe Creeks) and other unnamed,
unnumbered tributaries.

The NYS Department of Environmental
Conservation proposes to modify State Pollutant
Discharge Elimination System (SPDES) Permit No. NY-0105104 for the existing
discharge of 0.050 million gallons per day of treated sanitary wastewater from the Town
of Hanover Sewer District #1 Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) to Cattaraugus
Creek. The draft permit modification resulted from full technical review under the
Department's Environmental Benefit Permit Strategy. A compliance schedule has been
added to the draft permit requiring short term monitoring of the final effluent for the
parameters of copper, zinc, thallium, phenols, silver, nickel, lead, chromium, cadmium
and beryllium at a once per month frequency for a twelve month duration. The WWTP is
located at the corner of Buffalo Road and Routes 5 & 20 in Hanover. The draft permit,
