ENB Region 8 Completed Applications 02/04/2004

The applicant proposes to affect +/-32.5 additional acres of the currently permitted 243.8 acre Wilson Quarry on West Lee Road in the Town of Barre.  Of the additional acreage, 19.9 new acres will be utilized for stockpiles and berm construction, 6.1 approved acres for berm construction and 6.5 approved acres of additional minable reserves for this permit term.  

Rock extraction, processing, truck traffic and all other aspects of the quarry operation will remain unchanged.  

The Department has made a tentative determination to approve a renewal and modification application for the Alpco Recycling, Inc. facility which is located at 846 Macedon Center Road.  Alpco proposes an increase in their design capacity for the recycling and transfer operation to 100 tons per day and for the construction and demolition (C&D) debris processing to 140 tons per day.  The recycling operation includes cardboard, newspaper, plastics, ferrous and nonferrous metals, glass, wood, antifreeze, motor oil, and office paper from industrial, commercial and residential sources.  No materials are disposed of on site.  All materials are sold or landfilled.  The file is available for review and comment at the Region 8 office.
