|
The applicant proposes to modify an existing
Mined Land Use Plan for the Brewer
Gravel Mine. The modification will add +/-13.2 acres of sand and gravel reserves
located south of the currently permitted Pallidino/Buchtel mine. Material will be
excavated from below the local water table by a traditional drag-line method. Processing
will be done by portable crushing and screen/wash plant equipment at approximately 50
tons per hour. Reclamation will restore the site to stabilized, re-vegetated open land
and an open water pond. The mine site is located at 3010 Lake Road near the 14th
Street intersection.

reservoir via the Town of Newstead. The project includes the installation of 10,315 linear
feet of 8 inch water main and appurtenances to serve the Tonawanda Indian Community
House, Leisuretimers and 55 parcels on Bloomingdale, Wright and Tesnow Roads. The
Department has made a tentative determination to issue this permit but is seeking public
comment prior to making a final decision on permit issuance.

The applicant proposes to renew and modify his mined-land reclamation permit
to operate and expand an existing surface sand and gravel mine at his property
in the town of Starkey. The mine site is north of the Village of Dundee,
approximately 2000 ft. east of C.R. 14A. The expansion would add 45 ac. of
sand and gravel reserves to the current 38.5 life-of-mine area. Mining will
continue as a common surface excavation of Howard gravely loam, using
standard mechanical equipment. Truck traffic will not exceed 9 trips per hour.
There will be no mining below the local water table. Material processing will be
done on-site using portable crushing and screening equipment. Processing will
not exceed 50 TPH. The expansion area will be mined in 5 phases over the
anticipated 20-25 year operational life of the mine. Reclamation will follow
mining as each phase is completed. Reclaimed areas will be restored to
agricultural use or replanted with suitable tree species.
