ENB Region 8 Completed Applications 01/14/2004

The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation has received an application from the Town of Canadaigua to extend the water supply and distribution system of the Canandaigua Consolidated Water District into its extension #22 (Outhouse Road Park) and to take for use therein a supply of water estimated to average 500 gallons per day from the City of Canandaigua's Canandaigua Lake source.  This project includes the installation of 3500 linear feet of 8" water main & appurtenances to serve a proposed town park.  This project also involves a New York State Water Quality Certification for work in and around Sucker Brook related to road construction and watermain installation. The Department has made a tentative decision to issue this permit and certification and is seeking public comment prior to making a final decision on permit issuance.

The applicant proposes to modify the currently permitted mining operation on Texas Hollow Road in the Town of Catharine by adding approximately 20.6 acres to the currently approved 28 acre mine.  The mine will continue to operate as a traditional surface extraction of Howard gravelly silt loam, which is the predominate soil type at the site.  Material processing (screening) has been previously approved for this site.  Final reclamation will restore the site to stable, re-vegetated open land.  Reclamation will include the replacement of stockpiled topsoil and reseeding with an approved USDA NRCS seed mixture.  Application materials are available for public review and comment at the Regional Office of NYS DEC.
