The Department ha prepared
a draft permit and has made a tentative determination to
approve this application. The existing Flushing Hospital Medical Center operates three
boilers with a capacity of 19.2 mmBtu/hr each burning #6 fuel oil, two diesel engine
generators operating not more than 500 hours/year and an ethylene oxide sterilizer. The
facility proposes to cap NOx emissions to below 25 tons per year and is subject to
6NYCRR Part 201-7.2. Persons wishing to inspect the files, including the application
with all relevant supporting materials, the draft permit, and all other materials available
the the DEC (the "permitting authority") that are relevant to this permitting decision
should contact the DEC representative listed below. It is recommended that an
appointment be made to confirm the availability of the subject files. The DEC will
endeavor to make the files available within two business days of contact, during normal
business hours (8:30 am through 4:45 pm), unless the requestor wishes to inspect the files
at a later date. A public hearing under 6NYCRR 621.7(c) may be held if a significant
degree of public interest exists.

permit for a proposed discharge of up to 9500 gallons per day of treated groundwater into
the Arthur Kill (Class SD) from an air stripper / carbon treatment system at the
applicant’s facility located at 2990 Victory Boulevard, Staten Island, NY 10314 where the
applicant plans to redevelop a gasoline service station. A draft permit is available for
inspection and comment at the regional office.
