Consolidated SPDES Renewals
Washington County - The Easton Town Planning Board, as lead agency, has accepted a Draft Environmental Impact Statement on the proposed Convent for the Community of Saint Mary’s – Spiritual Life Center Major Resubdivision # 4-03-1. A public hearing on the Draft EIS will be held on January 13, 2004, at 7:45 P.M. at 1071 State Route 40 Burton Hall, Easton, New York. Written comments on the Draft EIS will be accepted until January 15, 2004. The project will subdivide 97.963 acres from Lot 6 of a previous plat. The proposed Convent size is for 20-30 units, and the surrounding land to be used for modeling methods of sustainable agriculture and animal husbandry. This subdivision will constitute Phase 1 of a 2-phase review for lands of the Episcopal Diocese of Albany. The entire project, the Spiritual Life Center, is located on a 612.7 acre tract, and will also site several facilities for a year round retreat, including an Adult Ministry Center, a study Library, several residences, a Youth Ministry Center, and a heli-pad for regional emergency service use. The entire tract extends across land in both the Town of Easton and in the Village of Greenwich, south of the Battenkill, and a coordinated review is being undertaken for the project.
