Public Notice

The Department of Environmental Conservation has determined that the Registry of Inactive Hazardous Waste disposal Sites in New York State needs to be amended to delete site number #130048, known as the Bowe Systems and Machinery Site. This site is located in the Town of Oyster Bay, in the County of Nassau, and is located at 200 Frank Road, Hicksville, NY 11801. The reason for deletion is:

On-site source remediation was successfully undertaken prior to the March 1999 Record of Decision (ROD). The ROD required that a groundwater monitoring program be undertaken with samples collected on a quarterly basis for a period of three years. This sampling program confirms that remediation of the on-site source area has resulted in reducing Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) levels in on-site and off-site groundwater to concentrations below New York State Ambient Water Quality Standards for Class GA Groundwater.

Request For Proposal


NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that pursuant to Section 120-w of the New York General Municipal Law, the ISLIP RESOURCE RECOVERY AGENCY ("IRRA"), Suffolk County, New York intends to solicit proposals for a FAN REPLACEMENT for the IRRA’s MACARTHUR RESOURCE RECOVERY FACILITY located in Ronkonkoma, New York.




A draft Request for Proposals consisting of the Advertisement for Proposals, Information for Proposers, Form of Proposal, Form of Proposal Bond, Form of Contract, Form of Performance Bond, Form of Labor and Material Payment Bond, General Specifications, Special Conditions, Drawings, Specifications and Addenda may be obtained or examined on or after December 16, 2003, at the Islip Resource Recovery Agency, 401 Main Street, Islip, New York, during the business hours of 9:00 A.M. to 4:30 P.M., Monday through Friday.

The draft Request for Proposals shall be subject to a sixty-day comment period. All comments concerning the draft Request for Proposals shall be addressed to Paul DiMaria, P.E., IRRA Chief Engineer, at 401 Main Street, Islip, New York. Such comments must be received at the office of the Islip Resource Recovery Agency , 401 Main St., Islip, New York no later than 4:30 P.M. prevailing time on February 16th, 2004.

There will be a mandatory pre-proposal conference and site meeting held on, January 28, 2004, 10:00 A.M. at the MacArthur Resource Recovery Facility (4001 Veterans Memorial Highway, Ronkonkoma, New York 11779).

A charge of $200.00, in the form of a Certified Check or Money Order, made payable to the Islip Resource Recovery Agency, will be required for each set of Information for Proposers, Form of Proposal, Form of Contract, Plans and Detailed Specifications. All proposers and non-proposers returning such set in good condition within 30 days after the date of receipt of bids, will be refunded the sum of $200.00.

Each proposal must be accompanied by either a Certified Check on a solvent bank or Trust Company acceptable to the IRRA, or by a bid bond from a surety prepared in such form as is acceptable to the IRRA. The Certified Check or bid bond shall be in the amount of 10% of the total proposal price and be made payable to the Islip Resource Recovery Agency as assurance that the Contract will be executed, if awarded to such proposer.

The IRRA reserves the right to reject any and all proposals in whole or in part, to negotiate with any proposer, to waive any informality in any or all proposals and to accept the proposal or part thereof which it deems most favorable to the IRRA after all proposals have been examined and checked. No proposal shall be withdrawn for a period of forty-five (45) days after being submitted. In the event the proposals are rejected or no proposals are received, the IRRA Secretary is authorized to re-advertise for proposals upon direction of the President.

Attention of proposers is particularly called to the requirement as to conditions of employment to be observed. The minimum wage rates to be paid for under the contract and all applicable local and State laws.

Negative Declaration

Nassau County - The Town Board, of the Town of Hempstead, as lead of agency, has determined that the proposed Amendment of Article XXXV of the Town of Hempstead Building Zone Ordinance to include a Planned Senior Citizen Residence Community Use and Modification of the Roosevelt Center PUD Master Plan for the Southwest Quadrant will not have a significant adverse environmental impact. The proposed action involves the construction of 720, two-bedroom condominium units, located on a 51.66-acre property within the Southwest Quadrant of the Roosevelt Center, Town of Hempstead, New York. The project also involves the creation of an 8.64-acre park to be open to the public and the construction of a 22,000-square foot community clubhouse with in-door and outdoor swimming pools, tennis courts and gift shop.

The proposed project also involves modifications to the Roosevelt Center PUD Master Plan to eliminate the proposed additional hotels, offices and an exhibition hall within the Southwest Quadrant. Additionally, the project involves modifications to the Roosevelt Center Planned Unit Development District to allow the following standards:

Notice Of Acceptance Of Draft EIS And Public Hearing

Nassau County - The Planning Board of the Village of Sea Cliff, as lead agency, has accepted a Draft Environmental Impact Statement on the proposed Modification of Special Permit Conditions for Sea Cliff Coffee Company. A public hearing on the Draft EIS will be held on January 14, 2004 at 8:00 p.m. at the Village of Sea Cliff Community Center, 300 Sea Cliff Avenue, Sea Cliff, NY.
