Consolidated SPDES Renewals
Oneida County - The Town Planning Board of the City of Rome, as lead agency, has accepted a Final Generic Environmental Impact Statement on the proposed City of Rome Comprehensive Plan and Zoning Ordinance. The Comprehensive Plan and Zoning Ordinance are the products of nearly two years of effort by city staff, elected officials, volunteer advisory committees, community stakeholders and community members. The planning process was initiated to respond to dramatic decline in population, jobs and community investment in the wake of the closure of the Griffiss Air Base in 1995 combined with the effects of a general economic decline in central New York. The planning process has involved hundreds of residents, businesses and stakeholders to draft a vision for the future and specific implementation strategies that will enhance and protect the city’s considerable assets and resources while targeting investments to create new economic opportunities, achieve high levels of employment and new tax revenues to support investments in education, environmental enhancements, government services and quality of life. The project is Citywide for the City of Rome, New York.
