ENB Region 4 Completed Applications 11/26/2003

Applicant proposes to rip rap 150 feet of stream bank along the Valatie Kill and replace an existing 14-foot by 50-foot dock located on Kinderhook Lake (Freshwater Wetland K-109) with a steel and composite dock.  The property is located at 126 Little Lake Road, Town of Kinderhook, Columbia County, New York.

The BASF Corporation - Rensselaer Site was a batch, speciality, chemical facility which manufactured organic dyes, pigments and, auxiliary chemicals. BASF Corporation permanently shutdown the Rensselaer Site operations at the end of 2000 and, surrendered it’s operating permits on June 15, 2001.  The Rensselaer Site will not operate again.  BASF Corporation is seeking to establish certified, Emission Reduction Credits  (ERC) totaling 4.6 tons VOC and 52.6 tons NOx for the past shutdown of the Rensselaer Site. The Department, after review of the required, submitted documents, hereby notices this ERC application.  Project Location: BASF Corporation-Rensselaer Site was located in the City of Rensselaer, Rensselaer County, New York 12144.  Public Notice: The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (NYSDEC) hereby notices a complete ERC application for the former BASF Corporation - Rensselaer Site. A copy of the final ERC Application and ERC Quantification forms can be obtained from the NYS Department of Environmental Conservation offices, Region 4 Headquarters at 1150 North Westcott Road, Schenectady, NY 12306, between 9:00 AM and 4:00 PM, Monday through Friday or by calling Nancy Adams, Project Manager at (518) 357-2452. Comments will be received for 30 days from the date of this notice.  If comments are received which raise significant issues or provide additional relevant information, the Department may modify or suspend the issuance of the proposed ERC’s.
