The applicant proposes to
restore approximately 700 feet of West Brook located in the
Town of Pittsford to trout habitat by discharging approximately 50 GPM of 50 degree
Farenheight aerated well water into the stream. Stream channel and riparian zone
ecological improvements will be done using small rip rap to increase pool capacity, and
aeration. Two small ponds will be also be constructed two increase habitat and a third
pond will be constructed to rear trout.

The applicant proposes to
conduct an eradication/control program of the invasive exotic
plant, common reed grass (Phragmites australis) at Lowery Pond (Junius Ponds) in
Seneca County. The purpose of the project is to eliminate the Phragmites which threatens
the many rare and endangered plant species and habitats in the project area. The herbicide
Rodeo will be selectively applied to the cut stems of individual Phragmites plants and
clones at the edge of Lowery Pond. 3-4 drops of a 50% Rodeo/water solution will be
injected into individual stems. The treated area will be no more than 2.5 acres.

The Village of Lyons proposes
to take a supply of water for use in the existing system by
the installation of a new well No. 2A having an installed pump capacity of 450 gallons
per minute (GPM) to replace well No. 2 and Junius Ponds, which is to be abandoned. The
pump capacity of well No. 3 will be restored to 450 GPM. The total groundwater
allocation is 500,000 GPD. The Village of Lyons takes a minimum 200,000 GPD and a
maximum 400,000 GPD from the Wayne County Water and Sewer Authority’s Village of
Newark Canandaigua Lake source. The Village will also be decommissioning the Junius
Pond Water Supply system. The file is available for review and comment at NYSDEC
Region 8.
