The applicant proposes a
wetland restoration and enhancement project to improve wildlife
habitat within an approximate 32 acre USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service
(NRCS) Wetland Reserve Program easement within State regulated Freshwater Wetland
SR-8. The proposal includes a five-acre complex of potholes with connecting level
ditches excavated to create openwater habitat for migratory birds. Some of the excavated
spoil will be spread over disturbed areas to provide seedbeds and create visual barriers
between potholes. The remaining spoil will be spread in upland areas, outside of the
wetland, and seeded with a conservation seed mix.
