Nassau County - The Nassau County Planning Commission as agency for Nassau County Legislature, as lead agency, has determined that the proposed Massapequa Preserve Streamflow Augmentation and Pond Restoration may have a significant adverse impact on the environment and a Draft Environmental Impact Statement must be prepared. A Public Scoping Session is to be announced. The project involves consolidation of Nassau County's municipal functions into five county campuses: The Government Operations Center, Police/Fire/Public Safety, Courts, Health and Human Services, and Probation/Juvenile Detention and the disposition of approximately 35.05 acres of municipally-owned property. The project is located at 1 West Street, 1490 and 1550 Franklin Avenue, 100, 101 and 200 County Seat Drive, 240 and 262 Old Country Road and 100 Supreme Court Drive in Garden City/ Mineola, 1200 Old Country Road in Westbury, Nassau County, New York

Suffolk County - The Planning Board of the Town of Brookhaven, as lead agency, has determined that the proposed Site Plan Application of Brookhaven Town Center (New) Brookhaven Walk may have a significant adverse impact on the environment and a Draft Supplemental Environmental Impact Statment has been prepared. A public hearing on the Draft Supplemental EIS will be held on October 6, 2003 at 2:00 p.m. in the auditorium of Building 4, Brookhaven Town Offices, 3233 Route 112, Medford, NY. Comments will be accepted by the contact person until 4:30 p.m., October 17, 2003. The project involves construction of a shopping center totaling 850,000 sf of retail area )including a 14-screen cinema) in 13 structures. The project is located on the northwest corner of William Floyd Parkway and the Long Island Expressway.

Nassau County - The Board of Education of the Hempstead Union Free School, as lead agency, has accepted a Draft Environmental Statement on the proposed District Reorganization and Associated Improvements to School Properties. Written comments on the DEIS will be accepted by the contact person until October 6, 2003 at 5:00 p.m. The action involves the Board of Education of the Hempstead Union Free School District is proposing a bond referendum to improve educational facilities, to increase the educational spaces for the existing and projected student enrollment, to improve educational efficiency and functionality of the Marguerite G. Rhodes and Prospect School buildings, and to modify spaces to accommodate specific curriculum requirements. The Board of Education is specifically proposing a reorganization plan that includes the redistribution of students in the District to avoid overcrowding at some facilities and the underutilization of spaces at others. To facilitate the reorganization, the following projects are included in the bond referendum: proposed demolition and reconstruction of the existing Marguerite G. Rhodes School; proposed demolition and reconstruction of the existing Prospect School; proposed expansion of the Franklin Elementary School; proposed expansion of the Fulton Elementary School; proposed expansion of the Jackson Annex; proposed expansion of the Jackson (Main) Elementary School; proposed expansion of the Ludlum Elementary School; proposed expansion of the Marshall Street School; proposed expansion of the Alverta B. Gray Schultz Middle School; and proposed expansion of the Hempstead High School. Nassau County - The Planning Board of the Inc. Village of Plandome, as lead agency, has accepted a Draft Environmental Impact Statement on the proposed Single Family Subdivision - Manhasset Glen II. A public hearing on the Draft EIS will be held on October 1, 2003 at 7:30 p.m. at the Plandome village Hall, 65 South Drive, Plandome, NY. Written comments on the Draft EIS will be accepted until October 14, 2003. The action involves a subdivision of a parcel of land into ten contiguous lots (7.56 acres), nine of which will be building lots within the Village of Plandome, and one contiguous 7.92 acre parcel located within the Village of Plandomre Manor which may be later divided into two building lots. The project is located on the noertheast corner of the Village in the area of the end of Madonia Court and Plymouth Road.
