The applicant proposes to
demolish an existing dwelling and construct a new dwelling.
The new dwelling is proposed within 32 feet of the tidal wetlands, known as Island

requested a variance from the 75 foot tidal wetland setback requirement. In addition, the

install a new 1,300 GPM production well for the
purpose of providing a new contaminant free water source to contribute to the
Northport Intermediate Water Supply System. In addition, the construction of the

been in service for more than 15 years and will soon need to be retired and

of 56,000 gallons per day of laundry
wastewater to groundwater from an Aquarelle Generation II filtration water treatment
system at the applicant’s facility located at 1909 Patchogue-Port Jefferson Road,
Medford, Brookhaven Town, Suffolk County. The applicant plans to operate a
laundromat.
The Department has made a tentative determination
to issue a permit for a State
Pollutant Discharge Elimination System permit under Article 17 of the Environmental
Conservation Law. This tentative determination indicates that the discharge regulated
under this statute is considered to satisfy regulatory standards for permit issuance,
based on information available to the Department at this time. As a tentative
determination, the Department seeks comments on the proposed regulated activity prior
to making a final decision on permit issuance. As such, this tentative determination
does not signify department approval for, or endorsement of, the activity for which a
permit is sought or for the overall proposed project.
