The applicant proposes to demolish an existing dwelling and construct a new dwelling. The new dwelling is proposed within 32 feet of the tidal wetlands, known as Island Lagoon, and a deck is proposed within25 feet of the tidal wetlands.  The applicant has requested a variance from the 75 foot tidal wetland setback requirement.  In addition, the applicant  proposes to cover more than 34% of the lot with impervious structures which exceeds the maximum 20% lot coverage allowed.   The project is located at 2892 Shore Road, Seaford, Town of Hempstead, Nassau County, Section 63, Block 76, Lot 163.   

The applicant proposes to install a new 1,300 GPM production well for the purpose of providing a new contaminant free water source to contribute to the Northport Intermediate Water Supply System.  In addition, the construction of the new well is proposed in an effort to proactively revitalize and stabilize the water supply system.  Five of the six wells that currently make up this system have been in service for more than 15 years and will soon need to be retired and ultimately replaced. The project is located within the Sunken Meadow State Park Well Field at the southeastern corner of the junction of the Sunken Meadow Parkway and Fort Salon Road in Kings Park, Town of Smithtown in Suffolk County, SCTM# 800-003-01-P/O 2.

The applicant proposes to install a prefabricated power supply building on top of the berm at the RHIC facility and install a drainage line at the same location.   The proposed building is within the regulated corridor of the Peconic River, approximately 1/2 mile away.  The project is located at the RHIC facility within the Brookhaven National Laboratory property, Upton, Town of Brookhaven, Suffolk County.  

The applicant proposes to construct a 28' x 52' dwelling, a driveway, deck and a septic system in regulated freshwater wetland #M-20.  The entire parcel of land contains freshwater wetlands part of regulated freshwater wetland M-20.  The project is located on Hemlock Drive, Mastic Beach,  Town of Brookhaven, Suffolk County, SCTM #200-982.1-2-12.

The applicant proposes a proposed discharge of 56,000 gallons per day of laundry wastewater to groundwater from an Aquarelle Generation II filtration water treatment system at the applicant’s facility located at 1909 Patchogue-Port Jefferson Road, Medford, Brookhaven Town, Suffolk County.  The applicant plans to operate a laundromat.

The Department has made a tentative determination to issue a permit for a State Pollutant Discharge Elimination System permit under Article 17 of the Environmental Conservation Law.  This tentative determination indicates that the discharge regulated under this statute is considered to satisfy regulatory standards for permit issuance, based on information available to the Department at this time.  As a tentative determination, the Department seeks comments on the proposed regulated activity prior to making a final decision on permit issuance.  As such, this tentative determination does not signify department approval for, or endorsement of, the activity for which a permit is sought or for the overall proposed project.

Refer to this application by application number listed above and SPDES number,  NY 0266876.  The proposed discharge is located within an area designated as a sole source aquifer.  The following water purveyors have been identified as having service areas located within a 3-mile radius of the applicant's facility: Suffolk County Water Authority.

The applicant proposes to install an irrigation well to a depth of 150 ft. and equipped with a pump having a capacity of 100 gpm.  The water is needed for general use and wetting down of agricultural products.  The property is located on Sound Avenue, Baiting Hollow, Town of Riverhead.
