The applicant proposes to
recreate an inlet through Cape Gerard linking Gardiner's Bay
and Accabonac Harbor. A culvert-bridge is proposed to be installed across the inlet to
accommodate vehicular and pedestrian traffic on Gerard Drive. The purpose of the
project is to increase flushing in the north end of Accabonac Harbor. This increased
flushing is expected to lead to decreased siltation and an increased growth of eelgrass in
the area, and thus to an overall increase in the diversity and productivity of the Harbor.
The project is located approximately 3000' north of the southern terminus of Gerard Drive
in Springs in the Town of East Hampton in Suffolk County, SCTM# 300-42-01-02 and
300-42-02-1,2.

The applicant proposes the
repair, renovation and asphalt resurfacing of an existing
approximate 24,079 square foot parking lot including: definition and provision for two
handicapped spaces, three boat trailer spaces and 34 standard vehicle spaces; installation
of seventeen leaching basins within the parking lot to contain all stormwater runoff;
concrete curbing; and lighting, to provide safe parking and public access for passive
recreational uses at Town and Trustee owned open space. The applicant also proposes
construction of a 200 square foot public bathroom facility, including a 1,200 gallon septic
tank and three leaching pools with allowance for three future expansion pools (all greater
than 100 feet landward of freshwater wetlands and surface waters associated with
Wildwood Lake). The property is located at Wildwood Park, Moriches-Riverhead Road
