The applicant has proposed
to stabilize the eroding east bank of Eighteenmile Creek
between the Burt Dam and the parking lot access point at Fisherman's Park located off
NYS Rte. 78. A stacked, stepped back quarry stone block wall and rock riprap would be
installed along approximately 550 feet of the creek bank. Habitat improvements would
include placement of flow diverters and simulated undercut bank habitat along that
section of the creek to be protected. Along with improving the safety and condition of the
trail between the dam and the access point, the project also includes intersperced planting
of wetland restoration vegetation, with superior erosion control/habitat enhancement
qualities over approximately 450 lineal feet of the eastern stream bank.
