The Department has made
a tentative determination to approve an application for the
modification of an existing State Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (SPDES)
permit which would allow for an increase in the discharge of sanitary wastewater to the
Hudson River from 4.9 million gallons per day (mgd) to 6.0mgd. In additio, the
corresponding Biological Oxygen Demand (BOD) and Total Suspended Solids (TSS)
limits will be increased proportionally. The facility is located in Dinsmore Road, Cedar
hill, Town of Bethlehem, Albany County. A draft permit has been prepared and is
available for review. SPDES NY 002 5739.

The Department operates
a modern crematory used for the incineration of animal carcasses and
materials that have been in contact with them. In order to be compliant with the applicable
sections of 6 NYCRR Part 360 the Department is applying for a Part 360 Regulated Medical
Waste permit for the delivery, unloading and combustion of animal carcasses generated by the
Department’s Wildlife Pathology Unit and from off-site generators. Additionally, the facility
would load and ship ash residue and package, load, and ship conventional regulated medical
waste.

Applicant is proposing to
add a second floor to the existing Greenville Middle School,
expand the gym and construct a new Ag/Tech Shop and bus garage on school property.
Applicant proposes a combined discharge of 14,400 gallons per day of treated sanitary
wastewater from two outfalls to Tributary 6 of Basic Creek from the applicant’s facility
(Greenville Central School) located on North Street, Town of Greenville, Greene County.
The Department has made
a tentative determination to issue a permit for a State Pollutant
Discharge Elimination System permit under Article 17 of the Environmental
Conservation Law. This tentative determination indicates that the discharge regulated
under this statute is considered to satisfy regulatory standards for permit issuance, based
on information available to the Department at this time. As a tentative determination, the
Department seeks comments on the proposed regulated activity prior to making a final
decision on permit issuance. As such, this determination does not signify Department
approval for or endorsement of the activity for which a permit is sought or for the overall
proposed project.
A draft permit is available
for inspection and comment at the Region 4 Office.
