| Project Description: | |
|
The applicant proposes to
repair an 8'H x 18'W dam that impounds approximately
210,000 gallons in a pond which is approximately 5 feet deep. The proposal includes
repair of a 6' x 15' x 40' man made breach in an existing dam, installation of a low-level
12" outlet drain and conduit, reconstruction of the service spillway (4' x 3.7'), and the
creation of an auxiliary spillway (2' x 18'). The top of the dam will be raised by 2 feet. A
temporary channel diversion through the breached area will be accomplished via a
temporary earthen dike to isolate the work area from the water. Rock rip rap will be
placed on both faces of the dam, and as a splash apron to minimize soil erosion. All
disturbed areas will be seeded and mulched to establish a permanent vegetative cover of
exposed soil. The dam is located on Burpee Brook, a Class C(T) stream, off Burpee
Road in the Town of Lewis.
