The applicant proposes two existing discharges of 15,600 and 7,000 gallons per day of treated stormwater runoff to groundwater from existing Oil/Water Separators at the applicant’s facility located at 300 Oak Street, Uniondale, Hempstead Town, Nassau County.  The applicant plans to operate an existing Package Distribution Center.

The Department has made a tentative determination to issue a permit for a State Pollutant Discharge Elimination System permit under Article 17 of the Environmental Conservation Law.  This tentative determination indicates that the discharge regulated under this statute is considered to satisfy regulatory standards for permit issuance, based on information available to the Department at this time.  As a tentative determination, the Department seeks comments on the proposed regulated activity prior to making a final decision on permit issuance.  As such, this tentative determination does not signify department approval for, or endorsement of, the activity for which a permit is sought or for the overall proposed project.

Refer to this application by application number listed above and SPDES number,  NY 0109258.  The proposed discharge is located within an area designated as a sole source aquifer.  The following water purveyor has been identified as having service areas located within a 3-mile radius of the applicant's facility: Town of Hempstead Dept of Water.  A copy of the application and draft permit are available at the Region 1 Stony Brook Office.  The property is located on Oak Street, Uniondale, Town of Hempstead.

THE APPLICANT PROPOSES TO INSTALL PAVED PARKING AREAS NEAR BUILDINGS #1002 AND 1004 AT THE RHIC FACILITY.  THE PAVED AREAS ARE WITHIN THE PECONIC RIVER'S REGULATED SCENIC CORRIDOR.  THE PAVED AREAS ARE NECESSARY TO REDUCE AIRBORNE DUST FROM AFFECTING SENSITIVE EQUIPMENT NEAR THR ROLLUP DOORS.  THE PROJECT IS LOCATED AT THE BROOKHAVEN NATIONAL LABORATORY SITE, UPTON, TOWN OF BROOKHAVEN, SUFFOLK COUNTY.   

The Department has  made a tentative decision to approve a wastewater discharge to groundwater of 8,000 gallons per day.  The wastewater is being generated by washing machine associated with a laundromat.  The area is served by the Suffolk County Water Authority.  The project is located at 165 Montauk Highway, Center Moriches, Town of Brookhaven, Suffolk County.   A draft permit is available for review in the regional office.  

Applicant proposes to construct retaining wall and inground pool within 90 feet of NYSDEC freshwater wetland BE-5. Project is located on Adelhaide Lane, East Islip.

The applicant proposes to reconstruct an existing two story single family dwelling in the adjacent area of regulated freshwater wetland BE-19.  The project is located on the e/s/o Seabay Walk 378 feet n/o Maple Court, Kismet, Town of Islip, SCTM #500-491-4-51.

Applicant proposes to construct a new detached 24' x 24' garage with associated driveway within 73' of NYSDEC regulated freshwater wetland BE-5. Project is located on Wingam Drive, Islip.

Applicant proposes to reconstruct in place and raise 2', 94 linear feet of bulkhead, to remove 18' of timber bulkhead and create a 33' x 18' boat slip by installing 84 linear feet of vinyl sheathing and excavating 165 cubic yards of material to -4' MLW, to install a 50' vinyl return, and to re-sheath immediately seaward of a 150' low profile bulkhead. Material excavated to create boat slip will be used as backfill.Project is located on Shinnecock Road, Quogue.
