Project Description: The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation proposes to construct a handicap accessible trail across wetlands to the shoreline of Sand Pond. The trail will be 800 feet long and will cross two fingers of forested wetlands. Elevated boardwalks will span the wetlands; one is 73 feet long and the second is 56 feet long. The proposed five (5) foot trail width is necessary to facilitate wheelchair use. No wetland will be filled, but four by four posts will be installed to support the boardwalk. There will be no dock, steps, ramps or other structures at the shoreline.
