| Project is Located: | Torrey, Yates County |
| Project Description: | |
|
The applicant operates an
industrial facility located on Perry Point Road where they
produce inorganic material for surface finishing of glass and plastic, and ceramic
materials. This is the second notice of a request received to modify the wastewater
discharge permit for the discharge to Seneca Lake. In addition to previously noticed
modifications, the discharge limitations for total aluminum, barium, fluoride and zinc are
proposed to increase while the limitations for total suspended solids are proposed to
decrease for outfall 001. The discharge limitations for carbonaceous biochemical oxygen
demand (CBOD5) and total suspended solids are proposed to increase for outfall 002. The
discharge will meet New York State Water Quality Standards with the proposed
discharge limits. Additionally, daily average discharge limitations have been added for
each outfall. The maximum temperature limitation has been modified to indicate that the
water temperature at the surface of the lake will not be raised more than 3E above
the
ambient temperature of the surface, rather than setting the maximum temperature at 70EF.
As a tentative determination, the Department seeks comments on the proposed regulated
activity prior to making a final decision on permit issuance. A draft permit is available
for review.
