Hanson Aggregates
East proposes to renew their mining permit and expand the life of mine
boundary at their Oriskany Falls Quarry. The expansion involves the reactivation of 13.3
acres of
unpermitted previously mined area in order to pile overburden stripped from the northern portion of
the quarry. The new life of mine boundary will increase to 341.8 acres, with affected area during
the 5-year permit term increasing from 241.5 acres to 263.5 acres. The quarry is located
immediately east and west of NYS Rt. 12B, 2000 feet north of the Village of Oriskany Falls, in the
Towns of Augusta and Marshall.

The applicant proposes to
expand a seasonal public access site (Middle Access Road) at
the Upper and Lower Lakes State Wildlife Management Area approximately 2.5 miles
northeast of the Village of Rensselaer Falls. The project would include a 30' long x 5'
wide elevated wooden walkway to a 5' x 5' stone filled timber crib support, to which a
170' long x 5' wide floating dock would be attached, to provide access to the Indian Creek
and open water areas of the marsh.
