Nassau County - The New York State Department of Transportation, as lead agency, has determined that the proposed Shared-Resource Public Safety and Wireless Communications Facility will not have a significant adverse environmental impact. The action involves the installation of an 80-foot tall, multi-user, multi-purpose monopole. The facility will support the communications and monitoring equipment of the DOT and the ancillary antennas of Cellular Telephone Company d/b/a AT&T Wireless Services (“AT&T”) together with a related equipment shelter at the base thereof. The Intelligent Traffic System (“I.T.S.”) traffic monitoring cameras and communications equipment of the DOT will be installed at the very top of the monopole with the antennas and related equipment of AT&T, placed on a platform immediately thereunder at 80 feet. The project is located on a parcel owned by the State under the jurisdiction of the DOT along Ramp V and the north service road at Exit 36 of the Long Island Expressway (“LIE”) at the DOT recharge basin right-of-way in the Village of North Hills, Nassau County, New York.
