Suffolk County - The Long Island Power Authority (LIPA), as lead agency, has determined that the proposed Greenport Generating Facility project will not have a significant adverse environmental impact. The action involves the siting, construction, and operation of a 54 megawatt simple-cycle turbine generator in the Village of Greenport, Town of Southold, Suffolk County, New York by Global Common Greenport, LLC. The project also involves the installation of a 69-kV, approximately 1.2 mile, transmission line from the proposed facility to LIPA’s existing Southold Substation and the physical expansion of that Substation to accommodate the proposed Greenport Generating Facility. The proposed project will meet a need for additional generating capacity and improved system reliability in the portion of the LIPA grid serving the North and South Forks of Long Island.
