The applicant, Dolomite
Products Co. Inc., proposes to modify and renew for a period of
five years their mining permit at the 746 Whalen Road plant. The modification is for an
increase of quarry depth to approximately 285 feet. Mining will occur below the water
table. Excess water will be pumped out of the quarry to adjacent golf courses and to
Irondequoit Creek. Truck traffic trips are not anticipated to increase. Application
materials are available for public review and comment at the regional office of NYSDEC.

The applicant plans to construct
a groundwater spring sulfur water supply to serve six
hydrotherapy tubs within the Clifton Springs Hospital and Clinic and a surface water
feature (continuously flowing shallow pools). The tub and pool waters (100% sulfur
water) will be discharged to Sulfur Creek. The average daily flow to Sulfur Creek, a
Class D stream, will be 10,000 gallons per day. The facility is located at 2 Coulter Road,
Clifton Springs, NY 14432. A draft wastewater permit is available for review.

The Monroe County Department
of Parks has submitted an application to develope 15
miles of the former Lehigh Valley Railroad into a multi-use trail for hiking, biking and
equestrian use. The trail is located in the towns of Rush , Mendon and Caledonia, and
trail improvement will occur within the State regulated buffer zone surrounding regulated
freshwater wetlands along the corridor. The NYSDEC has issued a beneficial use
determination which will allow the use of cinders from coal combustion as a trail
subbase. The cinders originate from Kodak boilers.
